The bulb has a capacity of 7cm\u00b3 and the stem beneath is graduated 3 x 0.1cm\u00b3 allowing for expansion over a range of 100\u00b0C. The apparatus can be supported by a single clamp and only 20 cm\u00b3 of mercury is needed.
