It is used as a light up aerated timing gate. It consists of a photo detector and light source (2.5V, 0.2A) housed in two plastic cases held 40mmapart on a metal rod. 4mm sockets are provided for connecting it to the electronic timer, power 2V AC. Two sets are required with one linear air track. One to start timer other to stop the timer.
